Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory is a tool for understanding, quantifying and managing organizations’ impacts and emissions.
At B3, we began to inventory our emissions in 2009. Since then, we made two improvementes: third party verification and the inclusion of the document Public Registration of Emissions of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program. We also compensate our emissions, which have not required reduction since the 2011 base year inventory, making our operation carbon neutral.
In 2022, we made another advance: we included the market-based purchase selection approach in our GHG inventory, through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates. This allows us to financially link the consumption of renewable energy and considerably reduce related greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2023, we began the migration of our facilities to the Free Contracting Environment, in which we acquire incentivized electricity that does not emit greenhouse
